A few other points, Robert, in addition to yours about the likely small effect of any bias (and in addition to George’s post): (1) It’s odd that these “cultural expressions” affect blacks but not Latinos or Asians; (2) so, if the SAT is biased, why does it overpredict rather than underpredict black performance in college?; and (3) as you say, by all means fix the test if it’s biased, but who doubts that the main use of this “study” will be to justify substituting racial preferences for SAT scores?
