I disagree. From what I've read, no one is attempting to dissuade her from her religious beliefs. They only require her to have some qualities and beliefs she doesn't have and cannot accept.
She has chosen the wrong career. For example, a Christian fundamentalist who simply cannot accept the evidence of evolution has chosen the wrong profession if she attempts to get a degree in a field which studies evolution (paleontology or cosmology??). A university would be totally justified to deny such a degree (i.e. evidence that this person has the knowledge to make a contribution to the field) to such a person.
The professional standards of the field she wants to be in requires her to have the sensitivity she evidently lacks. Choose another career and be happy.
Then it sounds like some Christian sensitivity training is also in order.
