Rank the For-Profits

by Jane S. Shaw

Why doesn’t someone rank the for-profit schools? If they are as bad as Congress and short-sellers claim, then a dose of Consumer Reports-type information is needed — if only to sort the bad from the not-so-bad. (If there is such a ranking, please let me know.)

By the way, I looked up a few in the U.S. News rankings (premium version). Strayer, Kaplan, and the University of Phoenix turned up, but with minimal information and listed as unranked. Walden was listed on the A-Z directory, but the page was unavailable. I think that some are listed because they advertise — but are otherwise ignored.
