According to an article in the Telegraph, new studies by the evolutionists suggest that women may well stay with nice men after all, instead of looking to dump them at the first chance for so-called alpha males.
“The expansion of the human brain would have greatly increased the cost of raising children so it would have been important for our ancestors to choose mates both willing and able to be good, long-term parents,” said Dr Tim Phillips and colleagues from the University of Nottingham and Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College, London. “Displays of altruism could well have provided accurate clues to this and so led to a link between human altruism and sexual selection.” Sexual selection led to the prevalence of ”altruistic” over ”selfish” genes.
Dr Phillips said: “These results are consistent with a link between human altruism towards non-relatives and sexual selection and throws an exciting new light on the puzzle of altruistic behaviour – which appears, at first sight, to be at odds with evolutionary theory.”
Yes, isn’t that odd how human behavior can appear at first to be ”at odds with evolutionary theory.” But how reassuring that they find a way to square the circle. Many humans are attracted to members of the opposite sex who are kind and responsible. Good thing we have this science to tell us things we would never be able to figure out on our own.
