Constructivism Dominates in Education Schools

by George Leef

In today’s Pope Center piece, Terry Stoops (who is the John Locke Foundation’s K-12 expert and a graduate of the University of Virginia’s ed school) writes about the recent decision to hire a devotee of constructivist theory to head the education school at UNC-Greensboro. That decision does not inspire confidence in UNC’s leaders. Evidently they don’t understand that ed schools will continue to send forth ill-trained teachers as long as the ghost of John Dewey lingers in the classrooms.
