Couldn’t We Go Beyond ‘Draconian’?

by George Leef

Writing at Cato@Liberty, Neal McCluskey notes that the usual suspects on the left are wailing about the possibility of “draconian” cuts in education spending, including higher ed. Neal argues that it’s time for Americans to drop the absurd idea that all educational spending is a great “investment.” Draconian cuts are in order. I know that Neal agrees with me on this: Since there is no constitutional authorization of federal intrusions into education, the spending cuts ought to be 100 percent.
