Remember: Our Colleges Teach ‘Critical Thinking Skills’

by George Leef

Erin O’Connor’s post on her Critical Mass blog delivers a sharp jab to the claim that college students learn “critical-thinking skills.” She refers to a Washington Post piece in which we find that students being interviewed for the Rhodes Scholarship can’t come up with sound reasons for opinions they hold, such as that Obamacare is good legislation. Our campuses appear to be breeding grounds for groupthink rather than careful analysis.
