Oren’s Hecklers to be Prosecuted

by Candace de Russy

The Muslim college students who prevented Israel ambassador Michael Oren from speaking at the University of California at Irvine last year, reports Israel National News, will soon face arraignment for disturbing an assembly and conspiring to disturb an assembly. The penalty is probation to six months in jail.

The students’ defenders claim that Muslims have being singled out unjustly and what is at issue here is freedom of speech.

Good for District Attorney Tony Rackauckas for publicly begging to differ:

“Religion or any other affiliation had no bearing on the case. The accused could hardly rely on freedom of speech for it was they who “meant to stop [Oren's] speech and stop anyone else from hearing [the ambassador's] ideas.”
