Bowdoin’s History Department

by George Leef

John Leo of the Manhattan Institute notes here that Bowdoin College’s history department offers nothing but American history courses that are based on the grievances of various groups. I’d be the last person to say that American history courses should overlook or minimize the bad things that the government has done to people — how about a course on the abuse of taxpayers? — but students ought to have some courses that cover the sweep of our history. But perhaps the school doesn’t offer such courses because the profs want to teach their own niche specialties.
