Dying for Diversity

by Carol Iannone

General Petraeus’s statement deploring the burning of the Koran by Terry Jones, with no mention of the marauding mobs supposedly so outraged by the burning that they were driven to killing 22 people, has inspired outrage. But the dismay is misplaced. General Petraeus is being true the official position of the United States Army, that “diversity” is more important than life. Thus, on these terms, the burning of the Koran as an act of disrespect toward another culture is clearly the worse offense, the taking of human life secondary.
