Is There Hope for Ed Schools?

Whatever goes on in education schools does not seem to produce good teachers. Nick Shudak, himself an education-school professor, offers a couple of specific improvements on the Pope Center site. He’s fairly blunt, first about the need for getting better students, and second about getting ideology out of the curriculum:

I don’t think we will get the best and the brightest until deans weed out politically slanted courses and focus on scholarship and what works rather than activism. That won’t be easy or pleasant for deans because that status quo has been quite comfortable for some. But it’s essential.
