Uproar Over a Scholarly Paper

Two professors at a well-known university publish a scholarly paper and it leads to an uproar. That isn’t because the findings are false, but because they hurt the feelings of some people on campus. Mark Bauerlein has a good discussion here.

I assure you that affirmative action hurts the feelings of some people who are OFF campus, due to the fact that the "diversity" policicies discriminate against them. But they are not on campus whining about their hurt feelings becuase... Well, they're not on campus!

Another fine example of the "guardians of open discourse".

"In response, faculty members and student groups protested."

Let us acknowledge that students, especially in groups, can be idiots, but faculty members? Not to those faculty members: If you can offer a reasoned and fact-based rebuttal, you should do it, otherwise, you are just showing your ignorance, immaturity and disdain for academic work.

This is Duke, after all. I wonder how many of those protesting faculty members were also members of the "Gang of 88" (Duke Lacrosse case). The "Gang of 88" were a bunch of idiots then and nothing happened to them.
