Administrative Overreactions and Kangaroo Courts

by George Leef

Veteran civil-liberties lawyer Harvey Silverglate recently spoke at a Manhattan Institute luncheon and discussed the shocking lack of respect and due process for students these days. The cases he discusses are truly shocking.

I have to put in a plug for Harvey’s book Three Felonies a Day. It’s a terrific and frightening book on how any American can now, quite innocently, find himself charged with criminal activity, and how prosecutors bent on making themselves look tough will trample all over the idea of justice to get scalps.
