Illegal Racial Set-Asides (Still) in University Admissions

That’s what a Harvard researcher appears to have found, as reported by Inside Higher Ed here and further discussed by John Rosenberg here. That is, applicants who are members of favored racial groups compete only against one another, and not against students of other groups — which has been illegal at least since the Bakke decision in 1978. This is more evidence that universities cannot be trusted to give only limited consideration to race; it has to be taken off the table.
