What Motivates Students to Actually Study?

Text

This piece argues that college students do more studying and less partying if they’re mostly spending their own money, rather than just coasting along on other people’s money.

The recent study by Babcock and Marks found that the number of hours students study per week has fallen steadily over the last 50 years. I suspect that the percentage of the cost of college that students themselves are covering has similarly declined.
