Education Is Not an Academic Discipline

So argues Bill Roden in this NAS essay.

He’s right, yet we have many “schools of education” offering programs and degrees. Many academics get advanced degrees such as doctorates in education administration just because those credentials mean automatic pay increases.

When the higher-ed bubble bursts, low-value programs in “education” will find themselves with few if any customers.
