A Little Good News

by Jane S. Shaw

The Associated Press has a fairly thorough discussion of tuition hikes (based on a new College Board report). Deep within is a nugget of good news.

Even student borrowing, the source of much anxiety, declined last year by about 4 percent. Borrowing remained 24 percent higher than five years earlier, but the annual decline was the first in at least two decades.

A few students (and parents) may be seeing the light and not choosing to go quite as deeply into debt.
