John Rosenberg has a great Minding the Campus piece about students who claim to be LGBT in order to benefit from the latest mania for “diversity.” 

Maybe we should welcome this. The absurdity of aiming at “critical masses” of LGBT students to make for a “more interesting and inclusive” campus might help to discredit the entire enterprise of treating some applicants better than others merely because of claimed background and characteristics.
