Pulling the Plug on the MA Subsidy

Recently, the North Carolina General Assembly decided to pull the plug on a long-standing educational subsidy — automatic extra pay for teachers who obtained master’s degrees. It was always a foolish idea rooted in nothing more than the old alliance betweeen the state’s educational establishment and the Democrats who controlled N.C. for almost all of the last century.
