Candace — A few thoughts on this. For starters, I love South Park. And it’s true that the show incorporates (mostly libertarian) political points and social commentary in with its raunchy humor. I think it’s great when low culture manages to get a point across; hopefully South Park gets people thinking about things they wouldn’t otherwise.

But there isn’t nearly enough of merit in South Park to warrant an entire college course, even if we accept the premise that a modern cartoon series could ever deserve a course. The last two episodes were commentaries on modern fashion and music trends, and while the episode before that was about the election, it didn’t really make an argument (Obama and McCain collaborated to win the election, thus gaining access to steal the Hope diamond).
