Re: Sex on Campus

Quick points about Karin and Candace’s posts.

On Karin’s, I think there are two sides to the death of dating on campuses. It’s not so much that dating has been replaced by “hooking up”; rather, dating has disappeared, and two different systems have replaced it. Some students “hook up,” of course, but others get involved in long-term relationships without dating a number of people casually first. So the average relationship hasn’t necessarily gone from casual dating to casual sex — casual dating has divided into casual sex and latch-on-for-dear-life-as-a-freshman commitment.

As for Candace’s post, hey, at least it’s a dedicated sex magazine. When I was in college, our daily newspaper had a graphic sex column.
