The Right take on higher education.

Kudos to Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart has announced big grants to help first-generation and needy students go to college. The really good news is that Wal-Mart apparently resisted the temptation to make the scholarships available only to students of this or that color. The company has not always shown that resistance; it ties managers’ compensation to how well they hit hiring and promotion quotas, and it requires outside legal counsel to hit quotas for women and minorities, too. So the news that its scholarships, at least, will be colorblind is an especially welcome surprise.
