What Are “Student Activity Fees” Spent On?


In this week’s Pope Center Clarion Call, Jenna Robinson discusses her findings regarding the use of student fees in the UNC system.

While it appears that the UNC schools are avoiding the Southworth problem of allocating fees in a way that is not “viewpoint neutral,” she finds that surprisingly little of this money actually goes to student activities. Most of it is spent by administrators on things having little or nothing to do with student activities. The fees are really just added tuition.
