James Otteson of Yeshiva University has won the Templeton Enterprise Award for the best book on “humane economics and culture,” for Actual Ethics. I met Jim at Hillsdale College a few weeks ago–I moderated a panel for which he had prepared a paper, on Adam Smith and the moral foundations of capitalism. We wore matching Adam Smith ties, which we hadn’t planned on doing. If we were women wearing matching dresses, it would have been a fashion disaster. But we thought it was kind of cool. Congrats to a promising young professor with an excellent taste in ties.
