House Passes Silly Bill

If the federal government wants to give more money to schools that need better computer equipment, or has a lot of students who do, then why should the grant hinge on the racial makeup of the school?  It shouldn’t, of course, but that’s not the approach that Congress is taking, as reported today in the Chronicle of Higher Education.  Well, maybe the Bush administration—which has already signaled its misgivings about the legislation in question—can explain this to our friends on the Hill.
