Rebels, Rebels

Anne’s post mentioning Harry Lewis and his comment about rebelling reminds me of a comment Harvard law prof Duncan Kennedy made several years ago, with respect to how recent law-school grads should behave on the job: “Young associates should think of it as a requirement of moral hygiene that they defy the people they work for, and do it at regular intervals.” This statement caused quite a sensation at the time, as alumni asked why they should hire people trained in the art of corporate sabotage by such eminences as Kennedy.
