Teens Forever

One of the troubling (but often unnoticed) characteristics of today’s universities is their tendency to keep students in perpetual adolescence. At college, young people do not learn to take responsibility (nor do they learn in their classes that responsibility is important). The Jeffersonian idea that the nation depends on free and responsible citizens is ignored.

Robert Weissberg, an emeritus professor of political science at the University of Illinois-Urbana and an adjunct professor of politics at New York University, discusses that problem on the Pope Center’s site today.
