Dead Batteries, Dim Bulbs
Detroit, Mich. – Today dawned with temperatures at 12 degrees below zero in Metro Detroit, which is hosting the North American International Auto Show. Minus 12. That’s 43 degrees below normal. Wind gusts putting the “real-feel” temperature at 24 below have closed hundreds of schools.
In the alternate universe inside Cobo Convention Center, automakers are displaying battery-powered electric cars that they say will be on the front lines of fighting catastrophic global warming.
Meanwhile, AAA this morning reports hundreds of vehicles crippled from the cold on Detroit roads. The cause? Dead batteries.
