I challenged Robert Bryce, author of Gusher of Lies — a book arguing that we don’t need to do anything for energy independence — to a public debate.
On March 25, he accepted. The Set America Free Coalition immediately stepped forward and offered to host a debate in Washington D.C. at the end of April.
However, yesterday Bryce’s publicist called me to say that he was backing out of the D.C. debate. I offered to travel to other cities to debate at his convenience. New York City? That didn’t work, either. Chicago? No can do. Denver? Nope, sorry. Los Angeles? No. Any major city of his choice? Can’t make it there, either.
I think that the readers of National Review Online should know that the author of Gusher of Lies is apparently unwilling to defend his views in public debate.
