House Republicans’ vote to restore the common light bulb failed tonight, 233-193 — falling short of the two-thirds vote needed for passage (a result of bringing the stand-alone bill quickly to the floor under “suspension” rules).
The vote was largely on party lines, with 5 Democrats in favor of bulbs, and 10 GOPers voting to ban them.
The good news is we know who they are. The Democratic Party is on record banning the product that 85 percent of Americans choose to light their homes. At a time when the country is shocked by the expansion of Big Bother in Washington, these Democrats may live to regret it.
