Earthquake in Virginia

by Greg Pollowitz

Early reports are a shallow, 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit central Virginia. Map here:

History of Virginia earthquakes here and here.

What’s more unsettling to me is the number of people I’m reading on Twitter and hearing on TV that are amazed that such an event could ever happen in the Northeast. They’re scared, and rightfully so. Most of the buildings they’re in aren’t built to withstand a big earthquake.

So much of the Global Warming debate has been about the acceptance by the scientific community that actually believes humans can markedly make changes to the environment with incremental changes like twisty light bulbs or wind turbines.

Newsflash: We can’t and never will be able to control the Earth.
