John Holdren? Population-control-John Holdren? Mitt, you have a problem. Investor’s Business Daily:
The GOP front-runner for 2012 sought advice on global warming and carbon emissions from the president’s current science czar — an advocate of de-developing America and population control.
Politics is said to make strange bedfellows, but no coupling in our view is more bizarre than when John Holdren, now President Obama’s assistant for science and technology, once advised GOP presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney on environmental policy.
Holdren’s bizarre views are best suited for an adviser to someone like, say, Pol Pot.
He views humanity as a plague on the planet and the Industrial Revolution as a tragic mistake. The fewer people, he believes, the better, and he’s not shy about the ways he would use to reduce their number.
Why Gov. Romney, a reasonable person, would pick such a man to advise him on anything is beyond us.
On Jan. 1, 2006, Massachusetts became the first state to regulate CO2 emissions from power plants, something the Obama administration is trying to do to all states through the Environmental Protection Agency’s draconian job-killing regulations and mandates.
A Dec. 7, 2005 memo from the governor’s office announcing the new policy listed among the “environmental and policy experts” providing input to the policy one “John Holdren, professor of environmental policy at Harvard University.”
This is the same person who wrote that a “massive campaign must be launched to restore a high-quality environment in North America and to de-develop the United States.”
The rest here.
On Romney's watch, MA got "gay marriage", a state version of Obamacare, and Cap and Trade. When he ran against Ted Kennedy, he tried to sound as liberal as Kennedy was on issues like abortion. His position "changes" now make him look like as big a flip-flopper as another famous MA politician. So why exactly is he the Republican frontrunner?

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseGood grief ... as if his proto-Obamacare plan, support for ethanol, and tax-the-rich demagoguery weren't bad enough, Romney also enacted CO2 emission caps and price controls? Seriously, how can any conservative support this man? What a disaster.

Doesn't it feel as though this is official policy of our current administration?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAgree with everyone except "Whocares". Gay marriage is the one thing Mass has done right. If true conservatism is about limited government, it should also stay out of dictating draconian marriage laws.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWRONG - gay marriage is about activist govt, redefining the definition of marriage as a man and women which has existed for all time, with specific cultures over time having embraced polygamy, which was still understood to mean a hetero-sexual relationship alone.
There may be reasons to consider gay marriage - limited govt isn't one of them.

Becaues he's not Obama.
@oilwatcher: "Seriously, how can any conservative support this man?"
Because he's not Obama.
"What a disaster." Indeed. For actual science vs. political science as well.
Republican acttracts conservative, but is not conservative. With a Romney win, you would still have to have a conservative legislature to get a President that would be anything more than a competent Obama. With RINOS and dem majorities in the House and Senate, a "competent Obama" like Romney would be a huge, long lasting conservative disaster.
Yet, I will vote for him if he is the GOP nominee. Congress is far more important than the Presdency in this election. It's the Occupy professional protesters and the MSM against everyday Americans.

Very true. Staying home is NOT an option even if Romney is the nominee; but it will be essential to have a solidly conservative congress to keep his instincts in check. He can't sign a cap 'n trade bill if congress doesn't send him one.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseRomney is not a "reasonable person". He's a loyal Gramscian, exactly like Bush and Obama. You should stop expecting anything different from him.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseRomney I think makes Bush II look conservative by comparison.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseBecause he can raise money. There are lots of people in power who do not want a conservative leader and promoting Romney would preserve status quo.
