Donald Trump will not be running for president. His full statement:
After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the Presidency. This decision does not come easily or without regret; especially when my potential candidacy continues to be validated by ranking at the top of the Republican contenders in polls across the country. I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election. I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.
I want to personally thank the millions of Americans who have joined the various Trump grassroots movements and written me letters and e-mails encouraging me to run. My gratitude for your faith and trust in me could never be expressed properly in words. So, I make you this promise: that I will continue to voice my opinions loudly and help to shape our politician’s thoughts. My ability to bring important economic and foreign policy issues to the forefront of the national dialogue is perhaps my greatest asset and one of the most valuable services I can provide to this country. I will continue to push our President and the country’s policy makers to address the dire challenges arising from our unsustainable debt structure and increasing lack of global competitiveness. Issues, including getting tough on China and other countries that are methodically and systematically taking advantage of the United States, were seldom mentioned before I brought them to the forefront of the country’s conversation. They are now being debated vigorously. I will also continue to push for job creation, an initiative that should be this country’s top priority and something that I know a lot about. I will not shy away from expressing the opinions that so many of you share yet don’t have a medium through which to articulate.
I look forward to supporting the candidate who is the most qualified to help us tackle our country’s most important issues and am hopeful that, when this person emerges, he or she will have the courage to take on the challenges of the Office and be the agent of change that this country so desperately needs.
Thank you and God Bless America!
I hope he at least opened the door for other candidates to speak with some candor on the horrific performance we've witnessed from BHO. That being said, this is the right call and I'm glad he made it and did so in a timely manner.
Reply to this commentLinkReport Abusehe got out early and didnt waste any other candidates time/money, so, his is the right and timely call.
he also moved the debate into the economic realm, and that is not a bad thing. he also proved that obama is not 'untouchable'.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseNow who's Limbaugh and Levin going to support with their favorite candidate out?
I'm waiting to see how long it takes thos two to either eat crow and begin extolling the good qualities of Daniels (who has one or two bad decisions as Gov. but overwhelminly a great Conservative Governor) or accept another 4 years of Obama.
If Daniels happens to opt out of the race then the GOP is in some real trouble....... As much as I like Herman Cain, he's never had to handle public money.....Add to that he has worked in an exectutive position at a Federal Reserve branch and was (theoretically) Pro-Bailout...... No thank you.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIf the GOP establishtment is stupid enough to fall for the MSM's ploy, which is to herd them toward Mitch Daniels (and why? Daniels would lose to BO big and the MSM knows it), I'm out of the GOP. No more money. No more support. I've had it. The MSM and the party elite picked McCain last time... and as soon as they did, I knew he would lose. And they did. They got their heads handed to them. No Jeb Bush. No Mitch Daniels. No Newt. No Romney (love the guy... but the Mass Healthcare thing is deal killer for me). I don't even much care for Pawlenty. He's like watching the paint dry on the wall.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseTrump got what he wanted, but not all of it. His negotiations with NBC no doubt went well, but his book sales will suffer because he had to drop out earlier than planned, mostly due to Bin Laden. Trump can out-business-guy Romney easily but he's no rhetorical match for Gingrich, who doesn't need his money and would gladly have humilitated him and probably picked up a lot of support in exchange.

You are truly clueless if you think Trump is Limbaugh or Levin's favorite candidate. Seeing such ignorance in print almost makes me feel embarrassed for you.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIt was fun, but I'm glad Trump decided against running.
I can't see anyone in his field beating BHO. Daniels and Newt have too much personal baggage; ObamaCare has rendered Romney hypocritical and Pawlenty doesn't have charisma. I like Bachmann and Cain, but their resumes are too thin.
Our nominee has not yet declared.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseSay what you want about my "Ignorance"..... I used to listen to Rush and Levin but finally researched some of the things they were saying and I could no longer stomach their self adulation. I got tired of hearing them both indicate that anyone who wouldn't support Sarah Palin for President was somehow a RINO. Here's reality, Daniels Vetoed one Bill that I wish he hadn't and he appointed one Supreme Justice that I wish he hadn't....those are the bad points. And yes....they are not good. Now look at the good points....Balance Budgets (5 straight), strongest Pro-Life Gov in the U.S., Property taxes capped at 1% of value, revamped distribution of Medicaid funds to be more efficient, revamped Indiana education, revamped BMV, revamped state government to eliminate unnecessary positions and bring state gov. to smalles in U.S. per capita, all this while increasing Education funds in Indiana, first time Indiana has had a 'AAA' rating, nearly a $1 Billion in state reserves, Automatic tax payer refund if reserves reach a certain point, ..... And Rush actually preferred The Donald over him? Rush prides himself on not having to invite political guests to carry the discussion of the show....and I know he had Donald on at least 2-3 times over the last 6-7 weeks!!!! Yeah, he preferred his buddy Donald which in my book makes him a hypocrite.
I've done my research (in the beginning I was still a Rush/Levin listener) but after actually seeing the facts compared to how they try and skew their information to the audience based on thier own agendas I decided it was time to quit supporting them as they are the actual CINOS (Conservatives in Name Only)
Call me irrational, but I'm going to support the guy with a 7 year record and 2 mistakes but multiple victories over Palin (2 years of expreience with multiple requests for federal subsidies), West (5 months of experience) Cain (0 experience handling PUBLIC money and a failed senate race plus an executive with the FED), Pawlenty (didn't accomplish nearly half the things Daniels did), Romney (Romneycare....just a starting point), Bacchman (Has she ever sponsored a successful Bill as a Rep? Seen it through to completion?...NOPE!), Huntsman (Obama admin. China Rep), Ron Paul (legalize drugs, legalize prostitution, never handled public money, too far out libertarian)......
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseTrump out. Trump never in. Played press like a fiddle.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseLooks like Trump is leaving the door open for someone by saying he or she. He could have said they.
BTW, with Trump and Huckabee out the media will do everything they can to get Palin in the race. Otherwise no one will care about the GOP Primary.
Think anyone will care about watching Romney, Pawlenty, Daniels, and Huntsman go at it? Think there's any ratings in that? Any interest? Any excitement?
The media loved 2008 because they had superstars like Obama and Clinton going at it. And then Palin fell in their lap for the general.
They know a Palin campaign and then an Obama/Palin general would bring in more cash, ratings, hits, etc... than any prior election.
Even in 2000 they had W who had a bit of star quality to him.
This is shaping up like 1996 when we had Dole, Alexander, Lugar, Forbes, etc...
Every TV exec, every newspaper editor, every online editor, every TV show, blogger, tabloid, magazine, radio host is praying that she throws her Kazuo Kawasaki's in the ring.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI can't believe I'm saying this, but I think we can thank Trump for bringing some kind of end to the Birther nonsense. Nobody will be able to say, "The GOP nominee is a crazy birther!"
It's like Trump threw himself on the grenade so the rest of the party didn't have to eat shrapnel. It's the only thing about his candidacy - ahem - publicity stunt that I liked.
