Al Davis R.I.P.

by Greg Pollowitz

Al Davis has passed away. From

Part of the Raiders organization since 1963, Davis led the team to three Super Bowl titles and four AFC championships after taking over as sole owner in 1970. Known more in his later years for his frequent legal clashes with the NFL (and obsession with fast players), Davis was nevertheless a truly brilliant football man, and served as the Raiders’ head coach and AFL commissioner before settling in as an owner. More intertwined with the daily operations of his football team than any other owner, the Raiders — and the NFL — will truly never be the same without him.
