Way Late, Santo Elected to Cooperstown

Just over one year after he passed away at the age of 70, MLB’s Veterans Committee elected slugging third baseman Ron Santo to the Hall of Fame. Santo played his entire 15-year career in Chicago and all but his last with the Cubs.

Jim Kaat, Minnie Minoso, and Gil Hodges narrowly missed the cut on the “Golden Era” ballot, which comprised the 1947-72 seasons.
