Remember Ford, but Not Nixon?
Then you’re probably just the right age to be encouraged by the news that last night Jamie Moyer, age 49, became the oldest pitcher ever to win a major-league game. And he did it in style, too — 7 innings pitched, 6 hits and 2 walks, and he allowed just 2 runs, both unearned. Box score here. (I personally can remember Nixon but not LBJ, which means I passed the Older-Than-Every-Baseball-Player milestone half a decade ago, when both of the Franco “brothers,” John and Julio, had finally retired. Now I’m older than the president too.)
