‘Stuck in Traffic’ Worse Than ‘Stand Your Ground’

by Greg Pollowitz

The Miami Heat’s LeBron James was caught with a police escort to last Saturday’s Jay Z/Justin Timberlake concert at Sun Life Stadium in Miami. Via the Miami Herald:

Miami-Dade police treated Miami Heat superstar LeBron James like a king Friday on his way to the Justin Timberlake and Jay Z concert, giving him a wrong-way escort to avoid bumper-to-bumper traffic headed to Sun Life Stadium.

Now, an officer is in hot water for violating departmental policy.

A grateful James unwittingly contributed to the officer’s troubles by posting a clip of the good deed to his roughly 3.5 million followers on Instagram with the caption: “They treat us so well! Needed it cause traffic was nuts!!”

“Light police escort on the wrong side of the street,” wrote James of the eight-block ride, which had him and his police escort driving opposite oncoming traffic. “Headed to the big homie concert, JT. Holla!”

To sum things up: Jay Z, a vocal critic of the George Zimmerman verdict had no problem playing a concert in Miami and LeBron James, also a vocal critic of the George Zimmerman verdict, had no problem using the police to break traffic laws so that he could get to the Jay Z concert on time.

With all the talk of having artists boycott Florida over the state’s self-defense law, I think it’s time we put that idea in the “failed” column.
