Ever since the political narrative from both sides of the aisle became almost exclusively about dogs, it was only a matter of time before PETA weighed in. The animal rights organization let slide that President Obama once ate dog meat. After all, he was just a child. But, the adults who it to them, PETA said, should have known better.
The anecdote about Obama’s trying dog meat was in his 2004 memoir, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance. In the passage, Obama said he “learned how to eat small green chili peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy).” Jim Treacher of The Daily Caller wrote about it in relation to the Seamus the dog story, inciting a Twitter frenzy. . .
