NBA’s Phoenix Suns To Change Name Tonight To ‘Los Suns’ To Protest Immigration Law

Via NY Daily News:
Taking a stand against what they called a “flawed state law,” the Phoenix Suns will wear “Los Suns” jerseys Wednesday for Game 2 of their second-round series against the Spurs in protest of Arizona’s new immigration law. “Our players and organization felt that wearing our ‘Los Suns’ jerseys on Cinco de Mayo was a way for our team and our organization to honor our Latino community and the diversity of our league, the State of Arizona, and our nation,” said managing partner Robert Sarver. Under Arizona’s new SB 1070 law, police in that state are required to use “reasonable suspicion” to question and detain possible undocumented immigrants, which has opened the door to charges of racial profiling from critics.

I'm pretty sure adding "los" in front of an English word isn't really Spanish, but maybe I missed that day in 7 years of Spanish classes when they covered the exceptions. - Greg Pollowitz
