A December 20, 2002, article on National Review Online, written by Joel Mowbray, titled “Saudis Behaving Badly” incorrectly identified a Saudi businessman named Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudi as being the former president of the Al Haramain Foundation in Sudan and as sponsoring terrorism. The Mowbray article relied on information in a study presented to the United Nations Security Council by Jean-Charles Brisard, an investigator for the 9/11 Families United to Bankrupt Terrorism. The Brisard Report was an unsolicited document submitted to the U.N. by its author. National Review has since been provided with information establishing that Mr. Al Amoudi has been mistaken for Hussein Al-Amudi, who served on the board of the Al Haramain Foundation in Kenya in the early and mid-1990′s and who died more than seven years ago in Kenya. National Review is aware of no facts to support the contention that Mr. Al Amoudi has ever associated with, supported or financed any organization that supports or advocates terrorism. National Review regrets this error, and apologizes to Mr. Al Amoudi for any resulting embarrassment.
