58k more Ds than Rs on Nevada’s Voter Rolls

According to statistics released by the Secretary of State, Nevada saw just over 6,000 new registered voters in July. The Democrats now lead in the state by about 58,000.  Republicans again have a slight edge in northern Washoe County, the second most populous county in Nevada, according to the latest numbers.

Of course, party registration numbers do not mean anything in and of themselves. Voter turnout is key, as is the preference of the non-partisan electorate. Nevada has about 165,000 non-affiliated voters as well as 46,000 Independent American Party voters. Combined with those registered for other political parties (Green, Libertarian), the state has over 224,000 voters not affiliated with either party.

Nevada has a total of only 1,084,098 registered voters.
