A new Quinnipiac poll released this morning shows Bill McCollum leading Rick Scott 44-35 in the GOP gubernatorial primary and Kendrick Meek leading Jeff Greene 35-28 for Democrats’ nod in the Senate race.
For McCollum, the poll points out that his lead is a huge reversal from Quinnipiac’s last survey on July 29, when he trailed Scott by an 11-point margin.
“The Attorney General Bill McCollum and Congressman Kendrick Meek campaigns have been able to break through the television roadblocks that made the previously unknown Rick Scott and Jeff Greene front-runners in their respective races,” wrote Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, in the release.
As always, though, the kicker is undecided voters:
“But the races remain volatile as 19 percent of Republican voters remain undecided and 32 percent of those who do name a candidate say they could change their mind. Among Democrats, 29 percent are undecided and 39 percent of those who name a candidate could change their mind.”
