It’s Ryan Frazier vs. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D) in CO-7

Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier defeated Lang Sias in Colorado’s 7th Congressional District GOP primary by a commanding 64.6-35.3 margin with 83 percent of precincts reporting (as of 12:33 a.m MDT).

Colorado blogger Ben DeGrow, who was in attendance and filmed the video, provides a transcript of Frazier’s victory speech:

On message to voters:

I’m going to ask every voter in the 7th Congressional District, every person, to believe again –  to believe in the exceptional nature of America, to believe in those ideals that make our country the free and prosperous Republic we know it can and should be, to believe that it can be better if we have principled Americans who will go to Congress, who will do what they say, and who will put forth solutions that don’t require more government but require less. Free markets, personal responsibility, limited government: that’s going to be what this election is about. [emphasis added]

On contrasts with his opponent:

Now Congressman Ed Perlmutter is completely out of touch with the people of the 7th Congressional District. The question that’s going to be before the voters is do you want someone who will represent you, or do you want someone who will represent Nancy Pelosi? Do you want someone who will stand up and fight for you in Washington, or do you want someone who’s going to go along to get along?

Sias congratulated Frazier on his primary victory:

Congratulations to Ryan for a very well run campaign.  He will be our party’s standard bearer and, just moments ago, I offered him my full support.

The last nine months have been exceptionally gratifying, and I’m humbled by the outpouring of support that I received from across the 7th Congressional District.  I look forward to continuing the fight for fiscal responsibility, private sector innovation and national security, to make sure that our generation leaves this country just a little better than we found it.
