Toomey Calls For ‘Real Checks And Balances’ In GOP Address

Pat Toomey received national press this weekend after delivering the Republican Party’s weekly remarks.

While President Obama used his address to suggest Republicans wanted to “place bets with Social Security on Wall Street,” Toomey focused his remarks on the economy and job creation.

Without Democrat policies, “things would’ve been worse,” they say. Perhaps. But things are bad now, and the question on voters’ minds is who will grow the economy.

Add to the mix the chatter that the retirement age could be raised as high as 70, and suddenly the president’s vow to defend Social Security from “bets” in the market may ring hollow.
