In an interview with CNN set to air tonight, Delaware attorney general Beau Biden said that he thought Republican candidate Christine O’Donnell “should be taken seriously.”
“It’s not about what you see on the national television shows. It’s about where they [Democratic senate candidate Chris Coons and O’Donnell] stand on the issues,” Biden remarked.
He also said he thought that both Coons and the Democratic party were taking O’Donnell’s candidacy seriously.
Biden, the son of the vice president, was widely expected to run as the Democrat senate candidate earlier this year. There’s been speculation that O’Donnell’s win may have caused Biden to regret his earlier decision not to run, made when it was expected that long-time Rep. Mike Castle would be the GOP nominee.
But Biden seems unregretful in the interview, saying “I only had one choice to make and that’s to finish my job as attorney general and that’s what I did. I’m not kicking myself.”
