Last night, Rep. Mike Castle announced that he would not be running as a write-in senate candidate. “While I would have been honored to represent Delaware in the U.S. Senate, I do not believe that seeking office in this manner is in the best interest of all Delawareans,” he said in his statement according to Politico.
Although there had been speculation that a Castle write-in candidacy could split the vote three ways, a Rasmussen poll released Monday showed Castle winning only 5 percent of the vote — and drawing voters primarily from Democratic senate candidate Chris Coons.
In his statement, Castle did not endorse Republican senate candidate Christine O’Donnell.
