•The Republican National Committee has launched a “Fire Pelosi Bus Tour” that will visit all of the 48 contiguous states, including five stops in Colorado over September 30-October 1. RNC Chairman Michael Steele will participate in stops in Fort Collins, Lakewood, Denver, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo.

•The National Republican Congressional Committee has elevated Scott Tipton to “Young Guns” status, further giving credence to the impression Tipton is running a solid race against Democrat incumbent Rep. John Salazar:
“Scott Tipton has proven that he’s ready to take on incumbent John Salazar, an out-of-touch Democrat who has blindly supported his party’s failed agenda of job-killing policies and reckless spending,” said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX). “Scott’s campaign is a symbol of the growing momentum behind Republican candidates in Colorado and across the country. As Democrats and their party bosses continue to force their big-government, big-spending policies onto the backs of hard-working families, Republicans like Scott Tipton will continue to present a clear alternative to a Democrat majority that unapologetically spends too much, borrows too much and taxes too much.”
Governor
•Colorado GOP Chairman Dick Wadhams denies an LA Times article that appears to imply that the entire Colorado GOP–including Wadhams–has withdrawn support from Republican nominee Dan Maes. In the article, Wadhams does admit having misgivings about Maes’ plan for victory.
“To run a real, competitive race in Colorado, you have to have a real campaign,” Wadhams said. Maes has hired George Culpepper, a campaign manager at various times for two of the other Republican gubernatorial contenders, former Rep. Scott McInnis and businessman Joe Geschwendtner.
•Former Rep. Bob Schaffer has endorsed Tom Tancredo, joining a growing list of prominent Republican defections from GOP nominee Maes.
•Maes faces an additional $3,000 in campaign finance fines from the Colorado Secretary of State, adding to the record $17,000+ in fines already levied against the candidate.
