Democrats today fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance the Defense Appropriations bill, which authorized $726 billion in defense spending but was also loaded up with a repeal of DADT as well as the DREAM Act. The vote was 56-43.
“This was a cheap political ploy that is going to backfire on Harry Reid with the voters of Nevada,” Sharron Angle spokesman Jarrod Agen told Battle ‘10 this afternoon.
Reid and fellow Democrats will no doubt blame Republicans for stalling funding for the troops, even though the votes of many GOP members were cast in protest against the controversial piggybacked measures.
