Dr. Joe Heck Fires at Sebelius, Rep. Titus on Health Care

Joe Heck lit up Nevada inboxes this morning with an email headlined “The Truth Behind Sebelius’ Spin.”

In it, the Heck campaign references Secretary Sebelius’ visit to Las Vegas today–part of the Democratic “re-education” effort on health care, the mailer says–and repeated Heck’s oft-stated objections to Obamacare, based in part on cuts to Medicare and the termination of Medicare Advantage.

Heck, a physician and business owner, posits that looming Medicare cuts are calculated at $1.05 trillion over the first 10 years, and $4.95 trillion over the first 20 years. He says health care reform will “ultimately raid the safety net services our government is obligated to pay seniors.”

Rep. Dina Titus has claimed there will not be a reduction in benefits for Nevada’s seniors. This, Heck said, was “another lie.” A campaign staffer today told Battle ‘10 she believes the senior vote will tilt Heck’s way on election day.

“In November, Nevadans will remember this bill as their premiums rise, benefits cease to exist, and our seniors lose valuable options,” said Heck spokesperson Mari Nakashima.

Many Nevada voters favor repeal of the health care reform bill; the numbers range between the high 40s and high 50s depending on how the question is posed.
