Exclusive: Mike Fitzpatrick on the ‘Pledge to America’

Mike Fitzpatrick, erstwhile congressman, lost his 8th district seat by some 1,500 votes in 2006 to Democrat Pat Murphy. Murphy has voted with Nancy Pelosi nearly 100 percent of the time, and recent polling seems to indicate deep unrest with Murphy’s four-year tenure.

Fitzpatrick enjoys a very comfortable 14-point advantage, leading Murphy 49-35 according to the latest Franklin & Marshall poll, the first independent, non-internal poll to be released for this district.

Battle ‘10 has spoken with Fitzpatrick previously, and this weekend he laid out his thinking on the GOP’s “Pledge to America.”

“The Pledge to America contains principles for the next Congress to abide by,” said Fitzpatrick in a statement. “Many of the ideas contained in the pledge are ones that I have been calling for since the beginning of this campaign.

“A repeal of Obamacare, stopping the massive tax hikes, scheduled to go into effect on January 1, and eliminating deficit spending, have all been principles of my campaign and represent a fundamental difference between myself and Congressman Murphy.”

“The Pledge to America represents a promise to the American people that business as usual is over. The principles contained are not partisan ideas, [rather] they are American ideas. We may not agree on every point, but this plan provides a roadmap for the future to create jobs, stimulate the economy, and restore America’s faith in our government, ” declared Fitzpatrick.
